Chugoku Region

The Chugoku Region, located in the western part of Honshu island, is known for its diverse landscapes that range from coastal areas to mountainous interiors. It is comprised of Tottori, Shimane, Okayama, Hiroshima, and Yamaguchi prefectures. Noteworthy are the Hiroshima Peace Memorial (a UNESCO World Heritage Site), the Adachi Museum of Art in Shimane, and the historic town of Kurashiki in Okayama. The region is famous for its seafood, particularly the oysters from Hiroshima.
